Ready for some Sam’s Throne engagement photos? Abigail and Nick joined me at this stunning overlook by the Buffalo River called Sam’s Throne. Sam’s Throne is a favorite for many of my adventurous couples looking for engagement photos with more motion and expression, and the wind at the top of the scenic overlook never disappoints. This spot is truly heaven.
They wanted a gorgeous sunset spot with mountaintop views for their adventurous engagement photos. I could think of no better spot! Sam’s Throne is one of my favorite adventure engagement spots in Arkansas, and you’ll see why!
We adventured around Steel Creek Campground to enjoy the painted bluffs. Afterwards, we ventured out to Sam’s Throne for sunset just 30-40 minutes down the road. I actually only live about 40 minutes from Sam’s Throne so it’s one of my favorite Arkansas adventure elopement destinations!
You have SO many options when it comes to taking your engagement photos at the Buffalo River. Classic spots include Steel Creek Campground, Roark Bluff, Ponca Low water bridge, Lost Valley, Twin Falls and others. You can also branch out and visit Hemmed in Hollow Falls, Tyler Bend, Sam’s Throne or Falling Water Falls, all pretty centrally located. You really can’t go wrong.
What I love about taking engagement photos at the Buffalo River is just the rugged beauty. It’s usually pretty secluded in the off season and even in the spring and summer you can find more private spots. There are so many opportunities for recreation and fun.
Sam’s Throne is a little ways away from Ponca, but so worth the drive. Even the drive out there is beautiful and scenic. I love all the pine trees and the beautiful coloring of the light as it passes over the ridge. You can even camp at Sam’s Throne– they offer primitive campsites and car camping options. Or if you want a more luxury experience you can always grab a cozy and romantic cabin nearby– my favorites are the Mountain Ecstasy and Buffalo River Cabins.
