V reached out to me while I was recovering from eyelid surgery in February, and I don’t remember much of our conversation, however she was so kind and she has such a unique and vibrant personality.
She told me that she loved Mount Magazine and had a total vision of her intimate wedding day on top of the mountain. I totally vibed with what she was envisioning and I told her it sounded really doable and exciting!
She told me right away that she and her man were an interracial couple and how she was looking for a photographer who would properly honor their skin tones without washing the other out.
I have had the privilege of working with a lot of interracial couples over the years and I always strive to document true to life skin tones and to be totally aware of how especially darker tones show up on camera. I showed her some past galleries of lovely interracial couples and explained that my editing style was very intentional when it comes to never making anyone look lighter or washed out and honoring the depth of skin tones. She reached out a few days later to have me document her intimate wedding at Mount Magazine and I was so thrilled! Their mid-September Mount Magazine wedding was SO well designed and a day full of love and family and I was honored to be a part of it. The day was warm and a little on the windy side. I especially loved how V designed everything with a Bridgerton feel (see below!).
After they had an intimate ceremony at Cameron’s Bluff, we rushed off to my favorite secret spot for sunset photos and then we were whisked away to a very nice dinner and reception where friends and family raved about the couple. Just a joyful day, all around!
I really love documenting adventure weddings in Arkansas. They are so much fun and such a laid back and relaxed way of celebrating your marriage while also including your circle. It has all the spirit of an elopement without being totally alone on your wedding day. It was perfect for V and M!
